Laufenn S FIT2 (LK12) in the UAE: What's New, the Alignment Indicator and the EV Mark

Laufenn S FIT2 (LK12) in the UAE: What's New, the Alignment Indicator and the EV Mark

In May 2026 Hankook and Gulf Coasts held a Laufenn partner event in Dubai for more than 150 regional wholesalers, retailers, dealers and fleet customers. In its announcement Hankook singled out "the new LK12 – Laufenn's latest tire", saying it "offers improved performance, handling, stability, longer mileage and is EV compatible". LK12 is the factory code for the Laufenn S FIT2, and it is now in our range. This is what it is, what changed, and who it suits.

What the S FIT2 is for

Laufenn's own description: "S FIT2 takes driving to the next level with exceptional wet grip and precise handling, delivering a more sporty and empowering experience. Furthermore, exceptional mileage carries you further." It is a summer performance tyre for passenger cars, which in the UAE simply means a tyre built for warm-weather grip all year. The S FIT2 SUV, code LK12A, applies the same design to SUV and crossover sizes.

What Laufenn changed

Laufenn lists the design features behind those aims:

  • Wet grip: a high-silica compound compared with its predecessor, and convex tread blocks.
  • Resistance to aquaplaning: four straight grooves to clear water; our guide to driving in UAE rain explains why groove depth matters.
  • Cornering: reinforced outer shoulder blocks and a high-grip resin compound, with tie bars for consistent performance and chamfered edges for precise steering.
  • Mileage: what Laufenn calls a new-generation polymer with optimised mixing for longer life.
  • Comfort and efficiency: a structure optimised for energy efficiency, with reduced impact noise and vibration.

Laufenn also publishes figures comparing the S FIT2 with its predecessor: wet handling improved by 10 percent, wet braking by 16 percent and mileage by 15 percent. Those are the maker's own test results, published for Europe, not GCCO measurements, but they show where the development effort went.

The alignment indicator

The S FIT2 carries an uneven-wear indicator on its tread that, in Laufenn's words, "helps detect alignment issues early". A car that is out of alignment wears one shoulder of its tyres faster than the other, usually without any change in how it drives, and by the time it is obvious the tyre has lost life it will not get back. An early visual warning is useful on any car and especially on one that covers big distances. Laufenn recommends an alignment check every year or every 20,000 km; our guides to tyre wear patterns and alignment and balancing explain what to look for.

The EV mark

Laufenn says the S FIT2 is suitable for conventional, hybrid and electric cars, and it carries an EV mark on the sidewall. Electric cars are heavy and deliver their torque instantly, which is why they tend to wear tyres faster; our guide to tyres for electric cars explains what to check, starting with the load index on the placard.

A design award

The S FIT2 won a Red Dot Design Award 2026 for its "Numeric Sidewall" design. Hankook says features such as the alignment indicator and the EV mark "improve user convenience", which is a fair summary of what makes this tyre different from its predecessor in daily use.

The sizes we carry

We carry the S FIT2 in 195/65 R15, 215/55 R16, 205/45 R17, 205/50 R17, 225/50 R17, 215/45 R18 and 215/55 R18, and the S FIT2 SUV in 215/70 R16, 225/60 R18, 235/50 R18 and 235/55 R19. Our listings show them by their codes, LK12 and LK12A, for example the S FIT2 in 215/55 R16 and the S FIT2 SUV in 225/60 R18. Stock changes, so see every S FIT2 size for what is available today.

Who it suits

The S FIT2 suits drivers who want sharper handling and strong wet grip without giving up tread life: owners of mid-size saloons and hatchbacks, hybrid and electric car owners, and, in the SUV version, crossover drivers who want a sportier tyre than a highway pattern. If comfort and the longest life at the lowest price matter more than handling, the G FIT AS may suit you better; our Laufenn range guide compares them.

Frequently asked questions

Is the S FIT2 the same as the S FIT AS?

No. The S FIT AS (code LH01) is Laufenn's ultra-high-performance all-season pattern. The S FIT2 (code LK12) is a newer summer performance design with the alignment indicator and the EV mark.

Is the S FIT2 suitable for electric cars?

Laufenn says it is suitable for electric as well as combustion and hybrid cars, and it carries an EV mark. As with any tyre on an EV, match the load index on your placard.

What does the alignment indicator do?

It is a feature on the tread that Laufenn says helps you detect alignment problems early, by showing uneven wear before it becomes obvious. If you notice uneven wear, have the alignment checked.

Is a summer tyre suitable for the UAE all year?

Yes. A summer tyre is designed for warm-weather grip, which describes UAE roads nearly all year. It is not designed for snow and ice, which UAE driving does not involve.

Where is the S FIT2 made?

The S FIT2 tyres we stock are listed as made in South Korea, with one size from Hankook's plant in Hungary. Check the product page or the sidewall for the tyre you are buying.
