Which Laufenn Tyre Fits Your Car? S FIT AS, S FIT2, G FIT AS, Z FIT EQ and X FIT HT Explained

Laufenn is Hankook's associate brand: launched at the SEMA show in Las Vegas in 2014, sold today in more than 100 countries, with about 9 million tyres sold in 2024 according to Hankook. GCCO is its official distributor in the UAE; Hankook named Gulf Coasts in its June 2026 announcement of the Laufenn partner event held in Dubai. Our earlier article covers who makes Laufenn and where it sits against premium brands. This one answers the next question: which Laufenn tyre fits your car.

Reading the names and the codes

Hankook groups Laufenn tyres into families: Z FIT for premium sport, S FIT for high performance and sport, G FIT for general passenger cars, and X FIT for SUVs and light trucks. Within each family the letters after the name narrow it down. Our listings often show Laufenn's own factory code as well, so it helps to know which is which:

  • LH41 is G FIT AS.
  • LH01 is S FIT AS.
  • LK12 is S FIT2, and LK12A is S FIT2 SUV.
  • LK03 is Z FIT EQ.
  • LD01 is X FIT HT.

G FIT AS (LH41): comfort and long life for everyday cars

Laufenn calls the G FIT AS "the reasonable choice offering the best all-around performance", aimed at drivers who want comfort, all-season performance and fuel efficiency, with a long-mileage compound and a low-noise pattern. It is the Laufenn for everyday small and mid-size cars, and we carry it from 14 to 17 inch, including 195/65 R15 and 205/55 R16 for a Toyota Corolla. See the sizes.

S FIT AS (LH01): a sporty tyre for saloons and crossovers

Laufenn describes the S FIT AS as an ultra-high-performance all-season tyre "designed for drivers looking for top-of-the-line performance and optimal fuel economy", with an asymmetric tread, four wide straight grooves for water and a long-mileage compound. We carry it from 16 to 20 inch, which covers sporty saloons such as a Nissan Altima on 215/55 R17 and many crossovers and SUVs on 17 to 20 inch wheels. See the sizes.

S FIT2 (LK12) and S FIT2 SUV (LK12A): the newest Laufenn

Hankook calls the LK12 "Laufenn's latest tire". Laufenn says the S FIT2 delivers "exceptional wet grip and precise handling" with "exceptional mileage", that it suits combustion, hybrid and electric cars, and it adds an uneven-wear indicator to help spot alignment problems early. We carry the S FIT2 from 15 to 18 inch and the SUV version from 16 to 19 inch. Our S FIT2 guide covers it in detail. See the sizes.

Z FIT EQ (LK03): premium sport

The Z FIT EQ is Laufenn's top sport tyre, described by Laufenn as a UHP summer tyre for premium cars, "designed for a premium and sporty performance, with outstanding wet and dry driving capabilities". It has an asymmetric tread and Y speed ratings, and we carry it in low-profile 17 to 19 inch sizes for performance saloons and coupes. See the sizes.

X FIT HT (LD01): comfortable highway tyre for SUVs

Laufenn says the X FIT HT "is designed for SUVs and light truck on-road conditions" and gives "a reliable, comfortable driving experience", with stone ejectors and a construction designed to resist stone damage. We carry it from 16 to 20 inch, including 275/60 R20 for a Land Cruiser or Patrol (see it here). There is no Laufenn all-terrain pattern in our range at present; for an SUV that goes into the sand, our 4x4 tyre guide covers the all-terrain options. See the X FIT HT sizes.

Two Laufenn patterns in your size? How to choose

  • Comfort and long life first: G FIT AS.
  • Sportier handling with good life: S FIT AS or S FIT2. The S FIT2 is the newer design and Laufenn's pick for wet grip; it also carries the EV mark.
  • Maximum grip on a performance car: Z FIT EQ.
  • SUV on a high-sidewall size: X FIT HT for comfort; on 17 to 20 inch crossover sizes, S FIT AS or S FIT2 SUV for sharper handling.

Whatever you choose, the size, load index and speed symbol must match your door placard; our guide to speed and load ratings explains how to check.

Where our Laufenn tyres are made, and how to look after them

The Laufenn tyres we currently stock are listed as made in South Korea, with a few from Hankook's plant in Hungary. Production years vary by size, so check the year on the product page or the DOT code on the sidewall; our tyre age guide shows how to read it.

Laufenn's own care guide recommends checking pressure monthly when the tyres are cold, rotating every six months or 10,000 km, and having the alignment checked every year or 20,000 km. With tyres bought from GCCO, rotation every 10,000 km, balancing, nitrogen filling and a full checkup are free.

Frequently asked questions

Is Laufenn made by Hankook?

Yes. Hankook describes Laufenn as its associate brand, "developed and backed by Hankook Tire", and has sold it since 2014. GCCO is the official Laufenn distributor in the UAE.

What do codes like LH41 and LK12 mean?

They are Laufenn's factory pattern codes. LH41 is G FIT AS, LH01 is S FIT AS, LK12 is S FIT2, LK12A is S FIT2 SUV, LK03 is Z FIT EQ and LD01 is X FIT HT. You can search our catalogue by either the name or the code.

Is the S FIT AS really an all-season tyre?

Laufenn classes it as an ultra-high-performance all-season tyre. In the UAE the label simply means a versatile tyre for warm and wet roads; there is no winter driving to plan for.

Does Laufenn have a warranty in the UAE?

The warranties on Laufenn's US and Australian websites apply to those markets only. In the UAE, GCCO as the official distributor handles manufacturing-defect claims directly: keep your invoice and bring the tyre to any of our branches.

Which Laufenn should I choose for an electric car?

Laufenn says the S FIT2 is suitable for electric as well as combustion and hybrid cars, and it carries an EV mark on the sidewall. Check the load index carefully, because EVs are heavy; our EV tyre guide explains why.
